TrueType fonts are monochrome.

Colour effects can be achieved with care by overlapping the same text from several fonts of a collection of fonts designed for colour work.

For example the following set from P22 from the [http://www.p22.com/Lanston/](http://www.p22.com/Lanston/) section of the [http://www.p22.com](http://www.p22.com) webspace.

For example, my own Galileo Lettering collection of fonts and Chronicle Text collection of fonts.

I had the idea of the font being shareware at that time but gave up that idea not long afterwards. The font is now a free download. End of supplementary note of 2 December 2009 I have just published the Chronicle Text font onto the web. The font is as follows. [http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~ngo/CHRONTXT.TTF](http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~ngo/CHRONTXT.TTF) The file with the shareware licensing information is as follows. Hopefully font technology will develop so as to have chromatic fonts.

One idea is my suggested eutofont format.

> Some time ago I devised a font format which I call the eutofont font format. There are some documents available linked from the following web page. I am hoping that one day it will be possible to save a font using “Save to eutofont format” directly from Font Creator Program and also to read in a font directly into Font Creator Program using “Read from eutofont format” . The eutofont system is still experimental. In order for the eutofont font format to become successful there need to be app…

I have not done any more with the eutofont format since, yet I am hoping that it may get taken up some day.
