I would also like to explore a feature to make a “construction background” where you are able to arrange shapes into position, then move them into the background to serve as a construction template for drawing a character, with the control points visible, with the option of snapping to the background’s control points. The example below shows a construction guide on the left, and the derived character on the right.
With the professional edition, you can get the result through other means. You need to change the direction of the four circles, and then select all. Then join the contours. You can now easily remove the unwanted parts of the circles in contour mode, and finally make more adjustments in point mode.
I open a glyph window, View, Toolbars, Background (F9).
Also a “Shapes Font” accessed through -Tools, Options, Sample- is very handy to drag in whatever you want.
