Copy from current glyph in background image menu

I notice that, for me, this button doesn’t seem to do anything. From the manual, I would expect it to create a bitmap based on the current glyph and display it as a background image (which, by the way, would be incredibly useful), but it doesn’t. “Show background image” gets checked, and numbers are generated for the coordinates and scale, but I don’t see an image. Is there something else I need to be doing or is this a bug?

Yes, it seems to be completely dysfunctional. It’s the same in FC6.5 or 7.5.

I have seldom used the background image toolbar, so am not sure how it’s supposed to work.

When I click paste, it pastes an image from my clipboard, when I click copy from current glyph, it clears the background image, but doesn’t clear the Windows clipboard.

Maybe Erwin can explain. If the bug is this old, it cannot be affecting many users.

It does work, but since the background image will look exactly like the real glyph outline, and the fact it is drawn behind the real outline, you won’t see it if fill outlines is enabled (which is the default).

Do click the Copy from current glyph button, and then move one or more contours.

Even if I move all contours to the side the background image is not there.

FontCreator Version 7.5.0 build 519.

Confirmed; this doesn’t work with that version
