Hello,

I just installed FontCreator 16.0 and I am a total beginer.

The image is a PNG file.

I would like to create a font with images like this of course with the same colors.

I tried but the système just recognized the 4 squares…

How can do it? Which menus, which actions…?

Thank you!

When you import a PNG image, FontCreator converts it into monochrome outlines, so the original colors are lost.

For your purpose, I recommend creating a **COLR color font**. This allows you to combine multiple glyphs, each with its own color. FontCreator can also automatically generate SVG color data from COLR when exporting your font.

To get started:

1. Import the outlines for each colored part of your design into a separate glyph.

2. Open the actual end glyph.

3. Open the **Masters and Layers panel** (Ctrl+F6).

4. Right-click and select **Add Color Member** to add the individual glyphs.

5. Click the color swatch next to each member to assign its palette color.

When exporting your font, you can select COLR or have FontCreator generate SVG color data from COLR through the Export Settings.

We also have a tutorial about creating color fonts:

> Author COLR/CPAL and SVG color fonts in FontCreator — build layered color glyphs, manage palettes, and pick the right export options on Windows and macOS.

I hope this helps you get started!
