I am using MainType 5.1 with InDesign 4 on a new Windows 8 system. When I install fonts, they do not show up in my InDesign menu until I restart the computer. Fonts showed up immediately when I used the same programs on my previous, Windows 7, computer.
Does InDesign 4 immediately recognize fonts when you install them directly through Windows fonts folder?
If not, then I’m afraid your copy of InDesign (from 2008) is not fully compatible with Windows 8.
