Is there a way to drag and drop a single or a small group of selected fonts into MainType like you can do in FontCreator?
Is there a command line method for doing this?
Is there a way to start MT without loading Active?

You can drag and drop selected fonts from Windows Explorer to a group, or hold down shift to move them. However, why not do it within MainType? Maximize the Font Panel to make it easier.
XCopy *.ttf … to move a whole load of fonts at once. Type xcopy /? to get the command line options.
Not as far as I know. Uninstall most of your fonts to make startup faster. I got mine down to 215 fonts and MainType starts in < 5 seconds. I don’t use even half of those fonts — most are system fonts. One reason to use MainType is so that you don’t need to keep a lot of fonts installed, but it is very quick to find and install fonts when you need them if they’re organised into neat groups.

When MT first starts up click on the Browse or Groups Tab.
Select a sub folder and only that folder will open.
Thank you for your ideas.
The feature of showing several fonts’ information in a single line display isn’t available in FC.
What I’m trying to do is use the features of MainType as if it was a font viewer. Everything in a font would be displayed but the overhead of getting there is too much for a single or small group of fonts.
I should probably add this as an Enhancement topic though likely a “trick”, such as some switch, flag or link on startup, would work just as well.
I think the most useful would be an option to resume from last time — i.e. viewing either a folder in the browse pane, a group in the group pane, or the Active fonts pane.
If you want MainType to start fast, you would then only need to remember to close it when viewing a small group or folder without include subfolders enabled.
