Hi there,
This is my first post so I hope I am posting this in the right place.
I am new to all of the font creation stuff and wish to learn from the best. However, I do have a quick question as I am in need for help.
What I want to do is hopefully very simple.
I need to create basic font where numbers are extremely large.
To explain this I want when I type font in lets say Word or other program, it shows font size as being 20 but when you look at it, it appears like size 80 or so. So when I increase the size further it becomes really enormous.
I have used the default fonts and increased the WinAscent all away to 15000 and it appears fine, but when I install it and use it in a program, I don’t see much differences in the size.
Need so much help here as this is important to me.
Let me know if something like this is possible and how do I go about doing it.
Also let me know if I need to provide you with more information about what I need.
Yes, of course, this is possible, but another way of explaining it is that what you want is a font where the letters are really small (relative to the numbers).
If your numbers are, say, 72 point, then your letters will look like 12 point, but you will have to set your font size to 72 point, not 12 point, for normal text. If you set your font at 12 point, your letters will look like 2 point text, but spaced as for normal 12 point text.
I cannot imagine why you need this. I suspect that there should be an easier way to achieve the same result by using character styles in your document.
Thanks Pesala…
I have a program that only lets me use font size up to 50 points maximum.
In most cases that is just fine, but I am working on a cool project where I need to make font extremely large and I have to bypass the limitation of the program. That is why I am evaluating Font Creator to see if I can work that.
I am just trying to trick the program so it thinks I use 20 points but on screen looks like 80.
I would like to figure how do I do that.
I spent several hours last night trying to achieve that but I can only go so far such as making it look maybe about 20% bigger. Also letters look really close together, even if I double the Kerning in the option.
Either way, I would like to learn how to do this so any help and/or instructions would help me out.
I learn really quick but since I have never (ever) created font before all this is new to me.
Please help.
Rather than using Kerning, try moving the Left(X) and Right(Y) Bearings.
Also you can extend the glyph beyond the bearings and then use Kerning.
