- Start FontCreator
- Select a large character set at once, such as Latin Extended Additional. (It may be a screen redrawing issue)
FontCreator 14 build 2841 crashes without any error message.
FontCreator 14 build 2841 crashes without any error message.
That is really strange. Maybe an issue related to your video driver, but it is hard to tell without an error report.
Where would I find crash logs?
You could try Event Viewer.
Can we close this issue or is there still a problem related to selecting characters?
It is still crashing. I was unable to figure out how to use Event Viewer.
I retested using my Odana font project instead of Verajja Regular, and got the same results.
Verajja Regular.fcp (509 KB)
Odana.fcp (623 KB)
It runs just fine here, so it is next to impossible to locate the problem.
Right after the crash, can you then open Event Viewer and look into the Application sub folder?
I hope it reveals something; maybe a graphics driver crash?

Do you also have this issue when you use the Default Theme?
I am using the default theme.
It also crashes with the Blue theme.
Specs: AMD Ryzen 5 3400G, 8 Gb on Win 10 64-bit build 19044.1706
This is one of the rare times that I honestly don’t know why it crashes.
Can you try with this update, and then let me know the crash information?
The same issue with Odana.fcp on default theme.
No luck with getting any event log with this, but it still crashes with a reliable recipe
FontCreator crashes to desktop with no error message.
When I start FontCreator it takes a couple of seconds before it is launched. Then it takes a while to open a font, but clicking a Unicode character block within the font panel is instant.
If I wait for five seconds or so for the font project to fully load and draw the glyph overview, there is no crash.
Launch FontCreator 14.zip (2.32 MB)
Thank you for providing this video. I now understand what you do, but on my side it just runs just fine.
Can other users reproduce this issue?
It does not seem to be project related. I retested by opening a project from FC13, and saving it. That still crashes in the same way.
Maybe AMD graphics card related.
AMD Ryzen 5 3400G, 8 Gb on Win 10 64-bit build 19044.1706
AMD Ryzen 9 4900H with Radeon Graphics 3.30 GH, 16.0 GB, on Win10 64-bit build 19044.1706
No crash, no matter how fast and what I click.
Ryzen 9 3950X with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080Ti and 32 Gb RAM. On Windows 10 Home 10.0.19044 Build 19044, No crash.
I have fixed a bug that might be related, so do give this release a try:
Unfortunately, it still crashes.
