[FIXED] GSUB type 8 lookup (Reverse chaining context single)

Does Font Creator 10.1 support type 18 lookup?
when i check windows default font (Urdu Typesetting) that have type 18 lookup (Reverse chaining context single) it not working.
is there any solution?
thanks.

The help file says that FontCreator 10 supports all types of substitutions.

If a feature does not work in the Preview Toolbar, open a font Test Window, select the test font in Word or whatever application you’re using, and test the feature there.

thanks for your reply
the lookup not showing in Opentype Designer Menu and also font not working in test window.
simply you can check windows default font (Urdu Typesetting).
thanks

I don’t have an Urdu font installed. OpenType features do not work in the font test window. You have to test it in Word (or whatever) after installing the font, or using the temporary file name generated by the Font Test window.

There are only 8 lookup types defined, and lookup type 8 is the Reverse chaining context single.

Previous versions had limited support, but the most recent version of FontCreator fully supports all OpenType layout features.

We’ve just noticed a bug which might cause issues when opening fonts which contain GSUB lookup type 8. We will release an update within a few weeks which should solve this issue. If you can’t wait, let us know as we will send the new release on request to existing customers.

We’ve found another issue that affected your font. It should show these lookups:

We’ve fixed that issue as well, and hope to release an update soon.

I’ve exported two fonts and installed them. Here is some text in a Word document which comes from news about tennis:

وانسحبت التشيكية، كارولينا بليسكوفا، المصنفة رابعة، التي فازت ببطولة برزبين أمس السبت من بطولة سيدني بسبب إصابة في الفخذ. وستصعد بليسكوفا إلى المركز الخامس في قائمة التصنيف الدولية الجديدة، التي ستصدر غدا الاثنين، بعد الفوز في برزبين.

I didn’t see any difference between original and exported versions of these fonts, so it now seems to work just fine.

great!
yes, it’s now showing correct.

Thank you for confirming the issue is fixed!

And the Font Test dialog also looks great to me:

looking great.

I think it still has some bugs. In the substitution tables list right click doesn’t work so you can’t go to the substitute lookup directly.
I’ve version 11.5 of FC.

These issues have all been resolved with the most recent release of FontCreator.
