Font, about 100 years old, survey map

Hi, I’m new to this forum and would appreciate any suggestions.

I’m a land surveyor in USA, Massachusetts. I recently acquired a collection of survey maps made from 1880 to about 1920. Most of the maps are ink on linen, hand drawn, and are exquisite. Because of the beauty of the lettering, I have been contemplating replacing the standard issue CAD fonts that I use for my drawings, with something that more or less mimics the look and feel of these older fonts. I wonder if anyone might suggest a font that might be used for this? Many thanks for any help.

Since the letters are all hand-written there are many styles on these maps. You may find current fonts which emulate these but you’d end up with a hodge-podge collection.

It might be better to identify a style you like and use that throughout. Here’s just two to play with:

I have something similar roughed-in in my design journal. Mine is based on an old sign & chart printers stamp set from the 1940’s or 1950’s.

I know they’re reversed, had to use webcam. Been one of those days.
