Font Header

I have created a new font and if you double click the font to install it shows the font was created in August 28, 2008. I have edited the Header and creation information and this stays the same. How can I fix this?

Run the Autonaming wizard from the tools menu to update the Version information as shown in FontView.exe.

Does not change it!

FontView has this peculiar behaviour that it shows the properties of the installed version, not the one that you double-clicked to view it.

Uninstall the font, and reinstall the updated version.

How do you install a font by double-clicking it in Windows Explorer? Here, on Windows XP, it just previews the font — there is no option to install it.

I too have Windows xp.

Double-clicking a font in Windows Explorer opens a window and, if there is not a font with that font name already installed, displays some header information of the font and some of the glyphs of the font and also temporarily installs the font until the window is closed. If there is a font with that font name already installed, the display is of some header information of the already-installed font and some of the glyphs of the already-installed font

If the new font has been temporarily installed then the font can then be tried in WordPad, provided that WordPad is opened after the font is temporarily installed.

I have often used this feature when developing fonts.

I’m using Windows 8 and if you double click on the font you see the font as well as the font header and the option to install it.

Will remove the font to see if that creates the problem.

Thanks, solved the problem it was indeed the old fonts header. Reinstalled the new font and now displays the new information.
