I’m trying to something very simply, take the Arial font and add an overscore to the capital letters. I’ve copied the Arial font and add a line over the letter. Everything works great with the new font except that when I use the new font in Word or even Notepad it is being resized and “smooshed” and looks distorted. It seems that the font is autosizing to fill an area. I’ve tried changing every setting I can find but it can’t seem to fix the problem. Help…

For what it’s worth, I tried what you described and in the process destroyed my version of Arial! Thanks.
I added an overscore on all caps and installed it. Everything was pretty easy except I lost hinting on the upper case and at some sizes the font looked a little uneven. Of course, at larger sizes the lost of Hinting is irrelevant.
No smooshing, squashing or swashing… Sorry, I can’t help.
