Fonts Being Cut off?

Hello, I am trying to resize a font to be a lot larger when using smaller font types (For example, I want it to appear to be font size 50 when only at 10) and to do so I used the Glyph Transformer Tool and Scaled the Outlines a certain percentage, and this works, but now when I use the font, its all cut off because the type is too large and its like its using a smaller rendering box…I have linked a screenshot, how do I make it so that the font stays the same size but renders completely?

I have tried going to FORMAT>Settings>Metrics>Hitting the Calculate button, and that works it makes them all fit, but when I go to use the font its like its all small again… :frowning:

Anyways, here is the screenshot:

Its is not possible to make a font larger than WinAscent/WinDescent extent. The application is responsible for font scaling.

Ok, I see what you are saying, (By the way thank you for the fast response) however, I still am having troubles increasing the overall size of the font still…because when I edited the WinAscent/WinDescent to be large enough to fit the characters, it stopped them from being cut off BUT then its like the font didnt get larger at all when I use it in a 3rd party program…but If I leave it cut off, it DOES get larger at a smaller type point…

Here is what I am doing, I am Using the Scale Outline tool to make the characters 250% larger, then they get cut off though, how do I keep it so they stay large but arent cut off, and when I adjust the WinAscent/Descent accordingly they dont shrink back down in 3rd party applications… :frowning:

As I said, its not possible. The glyphs cannot be any bigger than 100% of 12 point, and that leaves no space at all for accents above and below the glyphs.

I expected scaling should work to some extend. Where and how do you use the font?

It has to be possible, but maybe not possible with this program…

The scaling is definitely WORKING but like I said when I even out the WinAscent and Descent so that the font is no longer cut off, its like the font then reverts back to a smaller scaled font point, it is LARGER overall but still not large enough, and once the WinAscent and Descent are applied to cause it to not cut off, it doesnt get any larger afterwards…for example. I can scale the font 1000% larger, and apply the WinAscent and Descent so that its not cut off, but it has the same effect as if I were to scale the font outline only 200% larger and apply the WinAscent and Descent accordingly… BUT if i leave the WinAscent and Descent at their original locations, then the font comes through as HUGE in the program I am using but its just Cut off…so what is happening?

I am trying to use the font for a Theme for Blackberry Smartphones using the Theme Builder program…I know its possible to have fonts quite larger than the one I have created because I have seen it on other Themes, but the Theme Builder program allows only a maximum 50 point type for fonts, and the way we have had to overcome that obstacle is to make a custom font that appears to be at say 75 point font at say what we choose is 20 point, when other fonts would be quite smaller at 20 point because they were not edited as such.

Here are screenshots:

This one is of the font I am using at the max 50 point type in the program

But then here is another theme that has a much larger font BECAUSE they have edited their font to be bigger than normal using a font editing program..I have overlayed my font in purple to show the difference in size:

Here is a screenshot of a REGULAR font on bottom and MY font on top, they are both at 50 point maximum in the program but my font is ALOT larger, BUT i cant get it to be any larger because when I adjust the winAscent and Descent to cause it to not be cut off, it like scales it back down to what it is in the screenshot:

…so i just need it to get larger, but NOT be cut off…how do I do that?

Do you have a font that does work as desired? Then we can look at the font metrics and see what they did to make it work.

I can make it work if I don’t recalculate the WinAscent/Descent and then convert the text to curves in a DTP program, but as text the fonts are cut off as one should expect.

Unfortunately I dont..I am talking with another designer who created the font I have been showing you to see if he can make it larger but he is very busy and replies are limited as of now…

My knowledge concerning typography is very limited so I just find it really hard to follow, I got this program in hopes that I could scale a font in the way I have been describing but its not working, I dont know what other options I have :frowning:

Also, here are the default metrics of the font:

Then after i scale the font to be 250% larger, I adjust the metrics so its no longer cut off (but when I do that it causes the font to be small again in the program I am using) and they are as such:

As you can see, it is much larger in the preview with the custom metrics, but its like they dont make a difference when I import the font into the other program..but if I leave the metrics the same with the font larger (but cut off) it looks a lot larger in the 3rd party program, but like I said its cut off…

Here is me scaling the font 250% leaving the metrics alone… when I preview the font with F5 in Font Creator it shows it cut off, But in the program it is LARGE like I need, but you can see by the green box around the clock previews the rendering area, it is EXACTLY the same as the cut off in Font Creator…
