glyph TTF no longer displays after resaving in V4.5

I recently installed FontCreator 4.5 Build 1.195.49 on a Windows Vista computer. When I open my old TTF glyph font file made with FontCreator version 4.2.4 Build 170.49 on a Windows XP computer and I make any change to the file, then resave, the font no longer displays when I try to use it.

I am using a glyph TTF with a piece of software I write. The font mapping values are all off-keyboard values from 161 to 207, so the software selects the mapping value and displaying the glyph.


Can anyone provide some trouble shooting suggestions why the font might not work after I resave?

I may have found the solution to this on my own. I find that after I change the glyph font file in V4.5 I need to restart my Vista computer to have the changes take effect. This seems to have solved the problem.

Version 4 is outdated and no longer maintained, so we suggest you use the latest version.

A common problem is overwriting a font that is already installed and used by programs. That can cause all kinds of problems, so always uninstall a font before making changes to it.
