glyphs in sample bar are too small

I would like to build my characters from components with the components in the samples toolbar. I would cut the characters from actual glyphs,
polish them a bit and then use them as widely as possible.

The problem is that small components look like a list of ill-defined dots
and I can’t tell which is which. Is there some way to make them larger
(that is magnify them?)

Yes. Options, Sample, Glyph Width and Glyph Height. This will enlarge the entire sample bar, so small contours can be made to display bigger. The maximum vertical size is 200.

Define a separate font with just the bits you need to use on your sample bar and select that from the Options, Sample menu.
