In your normal font, simply add a bar above and below each character, being sure to keep them all the same width and at the same locations in each.

Then in perhaps the bold version close the right side of each glyph, and in the Bold Italic close the left side.

When using the font family, start each word with the bold version, switch to normal, and use bold italic for the last letter of each word.
