How to Make Arabic Diacritics Stay Colored After Export?

Hello everyone,

I’m developing an Arabic educational font, and I’d like the diacritical marks (fatha, damma, sukun, etc.) to appear in a distinct color (like red) when the font is used after export.

I followed the steps kindly shared by Mr. Erwin:
:check_mark: Selected the diacritic glyphs from the Glyph Overview
:check_mark: Picked red from the Palette
:check_mark: Applied: Right-click → Colorize to Selected Color

:white_check_mark: The colored marks look perfect inside FontCreator.
:cross_mark: But after exporting (using “Both: Color and SVG”), the colors don’t appear when testing the font in Word or other applications.

:red_question_mark: My Question:

What’s the correct way to ensure the colored marks remain visible after export?
Is it an export setting issue, or a limitation in certain software?
I’m looking for a practical, tested workflow to make this work — especially for Quranic and educational purposes.

Any insight or example would be greatly appreciated!

Warm regards,

Hello!

When exporting, use COLR for multi-layered glyphs.

Please note that not all programs support colored fonts.
For example, I tried the colored font on the video player.

However, it doesn’t work in Notepad.

You must use programs that support colored fonts.
