I downloaded the trial version, and had a great time testing it out. I just registered today, and when I tried to finish a font I’d already started, I ran into a problem. I cannot Import Image under the Tools menu. I’ve created a font using corel draw-and imported half of the font. Now the option is greyed out. I bought the home version. Do I need the professional version in order to continue to use the Import Image option? What do I need to do to beable to use this again?
This feature is available in both Professional and Home Edition. You can only import images into empty and simple glyphs. Maybe you are trying to import an image into a composite glyph. If so, you should convert it into a simple glyph prior to the import.
Even if I start a brand new font, the option still isn’t available. How do you convert it to a simple glyph? Is this a setting in fontcreator?
I suspect you are running FontCreator version 5.0. That version contains a bug that removes the import image feature from the Home Edition. Download the latest release (currently v5.5) from our download page and install that over the existing installation:

If this is indeed the problem, I wonder where you downloaded the older version.
It does say that it’s version 5.5, when I open it. I downloaded it off of the homepage.
I’ve just used the registration code you received earlier today and on my system the Import Image feature is available.
This is very strange. I’ll think about this some more and I’ll get back to you tomorrow.
I changed a few options, and now it’s working…I’m not sure why it wasn’t before…but thank you so much for your help!!
I’m glad you’ve been able to get it working again. In case you discover the cause of the problem, do let us know.
Ok here’s what I got…If I double click on the glyph square and open it, the Import option disappears. But if I just click on the glyph square and have it highlighted, the option is available. (Does that make sense?)
The other thing I did, was double click on the glyph and drag and drop the jpg image into the box, and it creates the letter as well.
I’m not able to reproduce it. Are you running Windows XP?
Yes, I have Windows XP and I have 100GB of free space on my hard drive.
How do I put a screenshot in this text box?? (I’ve got screenshots of the problem)
No problem, just send them to me and I’ll upload them and I’ll give you the link to the files.
