Hi Im trying to import an image with pattern in it. Example a bitmap of the number 0 with some pattern applied inside. My problem is after the import command, the software generates contour on every possible points inside the pattern that destroys the image. Is it possible to just import the image without tracing any contours on the pattern?

You could just open up your picture as a background image, but somehow, I don’t think that’s what you want to do. If you are just trying to get the “0” character without the pattern inside, that’s pretty easy. There are several guides in these forums to help you with setting the parameters of an import image so it will ignore those. Or you could just go into contour mode, and those little guys should be pretty easy to delete en masse by drag selecting. The contours of the “0” will be large enough that you won’t accidentally select them as long as you don’t try to take out too many of those pattern contours at a time.
thanks for your reply, what I actually want is the actual image that i have as it is.the problem is importing the image somehow destroys the pattern inside. i need the pattern on the image pixel by pixel.
here’s an idea why i need this.
i have a depletion algorithm that i used on a font so that less ink will be used. instead of a normal font at resolution of 600x600 the algorithm will used a bitmap font with the pattern inside the font.
did i make it clear or not.let me know.

The imported image is most likely not generated by the latest improved version. It is available through the announcements forum.
I tried to import it with import mode set to ‘Pixels’ and discovered a minor bug inside the trace algorithm. I’ve solved the bug (will release a new version soon) and I’ve posted the result here:

It contains 187 contours and 3534 points.
