Hi–i was wondering, did that feature get added in 5.5?
I’ve got a regular font that i went back and tweeked the kerning on and was seeking to see if there was a way to import the new kerning values into my bold version of the font, without having to mannually go in and tweek everything.
Actually, I just solved the issue in a novel way, so I’ll share in case it helps anyone else.
To clarify the situation, I’d originally done a ton of kerning prior to making my bold font, so when I finally made the bold version it had the same kerning as the regular…but, later, I realized that I’d missed some pairs and wanted to delete others…so I made those changes to the regular font and now wanted to incorporate them into the bold version, naturally.
The trick I used was to create a duplicate file of my regular font (with the new kerning), then I opened my bold version and copied all the bold characters…then went back to the duplicate file and pasted them over the original characters. It worked great–all the kerning mods were retained because they exist in the file, not with the glyph graphics.
If one goes to Format Settings… Metrics there is an enclosure for Font Design and an enclosure for Mac Style. (The parlance “enclosure” is what I have just used now, I do not know what is the official parlance.)
Did you need to change the setting to Bold there in order to complete the task?
I have not actually produced Bold or Italic versions of any of my fonts.
