"Installed" Fonts Not Active in Applications

Using MainType 2.1.1 Build 38 on Vista

The great majority of my fonts are in a separate Font directory; only System fonts and the basic MS “web” fonts are in C:/Windows/Fonts.

Using Main Type, I installed about 80 fonts. All show on the MainType program, in the C:/Windows/Fonts directory AND in the applications’ font drop down boxes.

However, in MS Word and 4 other applications, the application work area and printed copies screen only shows a font similar (maybe exactly) to Times Roman.

I did reboot the pc to no avail.

Most of my fonts are installed in this way, that is they are saved in another folder and installed using MainType. All of them work just fine in all Windows applications.

I suspect there may be something wrong with the fonts themselves. Are they commercial fonts or freeware fonts?

After reading your reply, I rechecked and the program is working properly.

I am attributing the bizareness to Vista.
