long time user, long-ago poster, currently using FCP6.5 Pro. I have added some tweaks and missing bits to the creative commons font Gorey for a publishing house, but the kerning pairs don’t seem to be picked up anywhere outside of the Preview window in Font Creator. Have tried in Notepad (Windows), Textedit, Word, Photoshop (Mac). Any idea what might be off? There are no unsupported tables to delete, as has been suggested elsewhere, and kerning is activated in Word.
Please see the attached file. Any and all help is much appreciated! Gorey.ttf (29.8 KB)
I don’t think kerning works in Notepad, Check the font size above which kerning is enabled in Word. I don’t have Word, but the font is working for me in PagePlus.
This doesn’t seem to be relevant, but the font is missing some recommended glyphs.
Thanks for checking it out! Is that Windows or Mac, please? And do the umlaut kerning pairs work as well – for instance Vå, Vä, Vö?
The main thing is to get it working in Adobe CS on Mac OSX.
I had the old, un-kerned version installed on the Mac before, uninstalled it via Font Book, and reinstalled it. Could it be that the old version lingers somehow anyway?
PagePlus is a Windows program. If you want the font to work on Mac OS, then I cannot help as I have no way of testing it. The umlaut pairs kern correctly in Windows.
How did you add the kerning pairs? I notice that they are not in alphabetical order, so you apparently didn’t do it in FontCreator. I don’t know if that violates any TrueType specs.
Try replacing the kerning pairs by importing this sorted file into the kerning dialogue. kern_Gorey.txt (4 KB)
