I’ve been working on a font for the last few days and have gotten very far, but now I’m stumped! My “V” has lines coming from both side of the top points. I want my lowercase letters to fit under these bars. I managed to get the right spacing correct but every time I try to change the left spacing, it starts to cut off my letter! Please help! Thanks in advance, see screeny for example.
There should be no reason why you cannot have a negative left side bearing, but what do you want to happen if the V is the first word in a line? In that case I think most programs will clip the left arm.

The other way is to add kerning values, but not all applications support kerning. It is better if you can to design your font to work without it, like swash italic fonts.
Whenever I try to change the left side bearing it starts cutting off my letter. Is there any way to stop this without doing kerning?
Thanks in advance!
