When I open a font and -after changing ony its name- install it, I notice that line spacing increases dramatically. The original font has 10 lines of text when the newly installed version has only 8. This is most unwelcome. Metrics in both fonts are identical.
What is going on?
It is guessing but I suspect it is due to a new option in more recent versions of the OpenType specifications. FontCreator upgrades older versions and that might affect spacing. I don’t think it is caused by the newly introduced auto hinting, but let’s take some time to further look into this.
First of all, what word processor/ DTP application are you using?

You could try to set the Contents and Layout Version to 3.
If that fails, do send the font file as well as the new font project to me, along with some information that helps me reproduce and understand the issue.
Thanks, Erwin, for your replies. I’m using Word '2007. The problem has nothing to do with hinting nor with Layout and Contents version, which is set to 3. Where can I send the fonts to?
Thank you for sending the font files. I’ve looked into the issue, and it seems several Chinese and Korean codepages are the cause of the issue.
I’ve send you a link to a pre-release of FontCreator which should solve the issue.
Let us know your results!
The version you sent me solved the problem. Thanks, Erwin, for your time and efforts!
I’m glad to hear the problem is solved. Thank you for letting us know. We will make a new maintenance release available to the public tomorrow morning, so all other users can benefit from this fix as well.
