List All Characters

Hi,

I’ve just started using FontCreator to make a design font (symbols, not letters). What I’m trying to figure out is what’s the easiest way to get a full list of all of the characters in the font, and what a user needs to type to access that character (or, what would be the equivalent character in Arial or some obvious font)?

I know the old methods of displaying an HTML page and using those HTML symbols, or just typing it into a page using alt+numbers, but those are extremely manual, and I’m wondering if there is an easier way to access that information - or should I be using the Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator (which really seems like overkill to require a language installation if someone just wants to make a design with this font).

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Matthew

The main benefit of creating a symbol font is that users can type the symbols with the standard keyboard. If you open the Preview Toolbar (shortcut F8) and select abcd… from the drop list you can see which symbols will be typed with which letters.
