True single line fonts - possible?

Hi, Let me start by stating I know very little about fonts. I found my way here searching for a type of font to use with some of our laser cutters. We produce parts that require part numbers to be laser cut onto them. Typical TT fonts are all outlines and are very time consuming to cut. I am trying to find a simple true type font solution. In other words a truly basic single line font. I bought engravers fonts only to find they were too many points in contours. I need something legible with as few points and curves as possible. I use it for notes and annotations on a pen plotter to make fabric patterns.
