Maintaining spacing with derivative fonts

I need to create showed letters with two fills, one for the letter, and another for its shadow, for use in Corel Draw. My idea was to overlay the shadowed text (where the shadow is filled with one color), with the same text in a derivative font which lacks the shadow, then fill the derivative font with the second color. I can accomplish the overlay in code, but only if the original shadowed characters and the derivative shadowless characters are precisely aligned.

My problem is that when I remove the shadow contour for the derivative font, the character shifts left automatically. I’ve searched in vain for a switch to turn this off. How can I keep this shift from happening, so that characters in these two fonts overlay precisely?

Thanks in advance,
Bill Pitkin

Tools, Options, Font, Set left side-bearing at x=0 when saving fonts.

Or drag the shadow contour to the right before deleting it. The former option might cause unexpected changes if the original font has some glyphs where the left side-bearing is not at x=0 already.

Dragging the contour to the right before deletion did the trick - many thanks to you.
