Making custom font styles?

i am new to this whole font production thing so pardon me if i’m retarded.

for my font family, i currently have a Regular and Italic style. i am trying to make custom styles, for example, 45 degrees italic, reverse italic, thin, condensed mirrored, etc like the ones in Adobe Caslon Pro font. i’ve read the instructions given by fcp 4.5 but they only cover italic, bold, and bold italic styles. i’ve taken my own approach to make the custom stlyes, but they do not show up in adobe indesign cs. can anyone help?

and while your at it, i would appreciate it a lot if someone explained to me why the glyph transform for bold makes some of my glyphs thicker and other ones thinner. thanks for your time.

Not sure about the first question, but you can adjust the parameters for glyph transform bold to suit the font. The default values may be totally unsuitable for a script font with slender stems.

There is no undo, so the only way is to close and reopen the font, adjust the values, and retry.

thanks a lot guys

The glyphs will get thinner instead of thicker when the contour direction is wrong. Run the validator to detect (and fix) potential contour direction problems.
