Metrics - Adjusting bearings by %

With Fontforge we can easily decrease/increase bearings of all glyphs by setting a percentage of the current value. Thus we get a condensed version of the font with no risk of crossing characters. Is it possible with FontCreator ? (Sorry for my bad english)

Thanks

By using the Glyph Transformer you can change the side bearings by a number of funits, but not by a percentage.

To produce a condensed version of a font, one would use the Scale transform, which will reduce the width of the glyphs as well as the bearings.

As Bhikkhu Pesala already explained the current versions allow for left and right side bearing changes, but only for a fixed amount of units. The next upcoming release will support adjusting bearings by %.

And in the current version is it possible to use script to reach the same result ? If not, do you know when the next version is to be released ? Thanks for your help (I absolutely need to condense a font without reducing width.

There is no release date yet, but we do send beta version to existing customers on request. So do send me a pm.

If I remember correctly, I couldn’t send a PM until I had four or five forum posts to my name.

You are probably right, but usually customers know how to reach us.

You can always contact customer support.
