I made this myself for my site but now I’ve forgotten the font i used
any help would be greatly appreciated

That’s a little funny… to have forgotten where you put one of your children!
Do you know the name of the font, the author or designers of the font, the create date or any other identifying clues?
You might sort your font directory inversely by Create or Modified date so more recent things would be at the top. That might give you a clue.

It was a font that I downloaded and installed in my fonts directory myself
I have since had a new computer, so only got the bog standard ones now
Web Studio had hundreds of similar fonts.
How about using MainType to scan through your font list?
Or perhaps if you didn’t keep the old fonts, it is still on your old computer?
Looks like at least two fonts. Which style are you after?
My old computer is in the computer place in the sky. Or it was [in a skip]

Try using Identifont http://www.identifont.com/ They will offer several alternatives which may not be close! Use http://www.DAFONT.com as a source for free fonts.
I really like the font on the right side of the image. It is very compelling. When I am looking for a font, I just browse through the font Web sites and try to match as best as I can. It is not always easy, but I am not sure if there is a better way.

The one on the right is called EraserDust Regular from Intecsas 1994. This one has lower case while the David Rakowski is only upper.
