Newbie: How to covert from Bold to Outline

Hello to All! I’m evaluating Font Creator and am trying to convert an existing Bold font (no rights reserved) to an outlined one. Matter of fact I was able to do it (it worked when tested in the program), but after validating and saving, on reopening it reverts to its original form (Bold). Can anyone help? Thanks.

but after validating and saving

Didn’t you see a warning about not overwriting installed fonts?

If not, then you probably saved the font, but forgot two things:
to uninstall the previous version located somewhere else;
and to install the new version

MainType can help you with these tasks.

And I forgot to mention, a reboot does magic because your system will then build a fresh system font table.

Do let us know your results.

First saved the old font with a different name, so the old one continues in place. Didn’t uninstall the old font 'cos the truth i still intend using it. I’ll try a do-over and see what happens! And thanx for the reply!

First saved the old font with a different name

Saved with a different file name or a different font name? When you only changed the file name, the font name is still equal to its original. If that’s true, Windows will refuse to install both. That is probably why you still see the original, right?

To also change the font name, use the AutoNaming wizard. Then after you saved the font, don’t forget to install the font.
