Newbie - How to delete section of a font?

Hello,

I am brand new with FontCreator so please be patient!

I have a font that I am trying to modify the capital letter “D”.

I want to simply cut out a small sction at about 5:00 o’clock on the “D”. I want to leave a completely white gap.

When I try to do this with “add rectangle” or “insert contour” the outline of the new countour remains black. This outline can of course be seen.

I need the outline to be white so it is not visable.

Is this possible?

If not is there another way to do this?

Thanks!

If you’re using the trial version or the Professional version it is not difficult.

  • Select the rectangle and rotate it to the desire angle with the Transform toolbar.
  • Lay the rectangle over the D where you want to cut it.
  • Select all and from the Glyph toolbar, select “Get exclusion of contours.”
  • Delete the two black bits that you don’t want.

If you’re using the Home version, let us know as we will have to use a more involved method. The knife tool can also be used in the Trial and Professional editions.

THANK YOU!

That did exactly what I wanted.
