Non printing characters in the private area

I am trying to set up a font with special characters in it. I have added 9 characters in the ‘Private Area’ (uniE006 - uniE00E) which appear fine when I print out the font from FontCreator, but when I test the font I get either Chinese characters (from FontCreator preview) or boxes indicating non-printing characters. They appear in CharMap, but when selected simply become boxes (or question marks) in the application. Have I missed something or made an error here?

Try Format, Settings, Ranges, Version, Version 3, Unicode Ranges, Calculate, Code Pages, Calculate.

Then save and reinstall the font.

Many thanks for your reply. Unfortunately after I tried your suggestion I still got a similar result. I say similar because the Chinese characters that earlier printed from the test font page had changed their style.
