Non-printing characters

I’m making good progress at having Mike Hebrew Web produce
readable web pages for Hebrew on-line newspapers.

There is a problem with numbers, dates etc The web page IS displaying
numbers in my font however the space after (or sometime both before
and after ) the number is often missing. When I change the font used by
the browser to say Arial the numbers are displayed correctly.

I have copied the text into MS Word and toggled [Show/Hide Para].
This shows me where the SPACE characters are. However, a SPACE
does not appear to the right and left of the number. There is another
non-printing character there. In the Arial font, this character seems
to have the same width as space. Hoe can I discover what it is?

I’d be grateful for any help in how to proceed with this,
Mike

You might like to try using a copy of SC Unipad from the http://www.unipad.org webspace.

One can read in a text file, select the options to show all spaces and control characters and so on using the buttons down the toolbar which is on the left-hand side.

Using Edit | Convert and selecting from the cascading menu one can convert characters to display in \uuuu format.

When using SC Unipad CTRL Q can be used to input Unicode characters hexadecimally, one needs to press Return to complete the entry.

Thanks William, I think UniPad is going to be very useful!
