I am pretty new to fonts, so this may be a simple one. I need to rename a font, and that is it. So when I open the font, use the AutoRename and then save it, the font looks different. The spacing is different. When I type a paragraph with the pre-renamed font, it wraps differently than the renamed version. I am not changing any metrics info or anything other than the name.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
Ryan
Please attach the font for testing purposes.
Here is the font.
Thanks.
- I opened the font in FontCreator 6, renamed it using the Autonaming Wizard and saved it with a new TTF file name.
- I installed both fonts using MainType
- I applied each font to an identical frame of text in PagePlus
- When I overlaid one text frame on top of the other, the spacing was identical, that is I could not see any text from the frame that was underneath.
So I am puzzled by your problem. I am using Windows XP Home.
Thanks. I guess I should have been more specific. I am not using Word and maybe that is the problem. When I install this font and view in Word it is perfect … I agree with you. When I try to use this font in my composition software, it is off, but only the bold. I attached a screen shot showing the differences. I suspect this may be a composition tool issue, but would like to rule out that there may be a switch on the Font tool (for bolding) that I missed. Your help is very much appreciated. Thanks!

Why you have to post a Word document to show a screen shot I don’t know. Not much more I can do to help here.
Font Difference.png
Why you ask … because when I tried to paste the screen shot, it did not let me paste it. Therefore the next best way to get you the screenshot was through a document. Obviously it is possible to paste a screenshot (shown by your post) however for some reason or other, it is not possible for me. I have tried now several times. Sorry to waste your time.
Make sure the “Remove” flags are unset, especially “Remove unsupported tables” before opening the font. You can change that flags through the Options window. To see or change them, open the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Font tab.
I didn’t paste it, I attached it, the same as you attached the Word document. Save your screen shot to a file first, then attach it.
