Own keys for characters

Hi, i am new with this program.

I was wondering if it is possible to use self thought key combinations for symbols. E.G. a special symbol get’s shift + ` + a + b (yeah looks dump, but if this is possible, anything is :stuck_out_tongue: ).

Thanks in advance.

Why not just shift + ` + b ? That is possible, but its nothing to do with FontCreator. It is just down to how you design your keyboard either using Word’s shortcuts or system-wide using the Microsoft Keyboard layout creator, Autohotkey, etc.

Actually i am making a font, where the vowels standing “upon” the consonants. (something like hebrew, but in hebrew it’s under the consonants)

Actually i am doing it still further. There are 2 ways to say an “a” sound: a in after, and a in lane. Im a dutch, there you have other sounds spoken for a “a”. But in fact it doesn’t matter. What i want to say, for every “vowelsound” i want a different character upon the consonant. (that are a 16 different characters, eg: ñ in latin scripe).

So i need a shift + a + ` + b commando, for i want a “b” with an “à” upon it…

At last, i want i can type something like this:

Still the same answer. FontCreator is a program for designing fonts, not for designing keyboards. You can design every glyph that you need — using composites if you want to save design effort and reduce file size — but typing with the font is a matter of learning how to use MS Keyboard Layout Creator or another keyboard customisation method.

You can also use OpenType features, but that will require a lot more effort, and the font won’t work in all programs.

I recommend designing your keyboard to use a standard Truetype font so that it will work in most Windows programs.

For example, design it so that ` + b types the “b” with an “à” upon it.
