Problem with color glyph

I’ve created a font for music notation that includes some color glyphs, which give the appearance of erasing the staff lines.

The problem is that, while it appears properly in the notation software (Dorico), when I export the PDF, it does not display the color correctly. I have tried it in Acrobat Pro.

The top is what I get in the PDF, the bottom is what I get in the notation program, which is want I want.

Is there something I’m doing wrong?

As a further test to make sure that I was exporting in color correctly, here is a “color” PDF exported from Dorico, with a colored notehead displaying correctly. So Dorico is placing the notehead in front of the staff line. All I can think is that my font is not properly set up with the COLR property.

The .fcp file is here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/i5syu25g45pouka1t0mvk/Cantorum.fcp?rlkey=mvbhr54gpzv6imtlfpnycuze7&dl=0

I suspect the colored notehead is just from a plain monochrome font where they set the font color.

Most likely the PDF generator fails here.

Can you try in Word, to see if that works when generating a PDF?

I just checked it in Word. It works fine, and the exported PDF correctly displays a white interior of the notehead:

Can you explain what you mean? When I made the colored glyph, I think I set it up correctly. Could you take a look at it in the attached font file and make sure I did it correctly?

Thank you!

I meant to respond to this specific part of your original message.

So what I am trying to tell you, is you probably compare a monochrome font with your color font.

Ok, thanks. So this comparison is two different things?

Is there any way my font could be in error in regards to the color? Or does the issue appear to lie in Dorico’s handling of color?

I think the PDF generator fails.

Thanks, that’s not the answer I was hoping for but I guess you are probably right.
