Problem with printing composites

I’ve noted that I, or my computer, have problems in printing some composites characters (from microsoft word or the test current font page of FC). I wonder if anyone else has experienced something similar or if it’s my computer or printer dirvers or anything else non-related to FC.

The problem has two variants, the first is that nothing but the following error message prints:

PCL XL error
Subsystem: KERNEL
Error: IllegalOperatorSequence
Operator: BeginChar
Position: XXX [where XXX depends on the position of the caharcter].

This occured for superscript-n and some vulgar fractions that I had made using complete composites.

The second version is that the page prints ok but with blanks instead of some characters. This occured for the characters “c/o” and “TEL” and a few others that I had also made using complete composites, but “FAX” made in the same way printed without problem.

This has led me to believe that characters that contain scaled composites causes the trouble, but apparently not all of them.

Making the glyphs “simple” solves the problem but I’d rather find out exactly what is causing it…

…and it was the printer drivers…
