I downloaded trial version from Tucows last night. Can create a font, save it and use it in MS Word.
However, if i scan a font it doesn’t seem to work. I can work with it in the Glyph editor and i can save it and install it with no errors - but I can’t see it in MS Word.
Erwin - i look for the font family name - that’s what I did when i looked at the A font that i created - could it be related to the size of the font - when editing the glyph i make sure that it lies within the solid horizontal lines and the dotted vertical lines before i save it
I chose new font - gave a family name - selected A from glyph overview - made my A - saved it - installed it - it worked
went back to the glyph overview - selected B - in glyph editor i chose import image - made sure letter was in side horizontal and vertical lines - saved it - installed it
The A shows up in the font test and MS Word
The B doesn’t show up in either of them
Windows can be easily confused when you try to install a font that is already active.
When you install a font that is already installed, you first need to uninstall it, as Font Creator should have told you. Restart Word or Windows might also help.
If it doesn’t show up in Test Font, it hasn’t been mapped.
Right click on the B. Select Properties. Set Postscript name as B. Go to Mappings select Macintosh and enter code for Latin Capital Letter B (dec 66) Go to Microsoft and do same.
I remember once a customer had a similar question and it turned out he was testing his new font, only containing a capital A, while testing it with Word, typing lower cases aaaaas…
I tried again last night - same results - i’ll try Dick Pape’s idea this evening. I did try both upper and lower case and the result was consistent with the ‘A’ example where i had to draw the letter - but i still had problems with the imported image.
Is there a difference in this import functionality between the home and professional editions?
