Stencilled Fonts

I am trying to replicate some old stencilled font wording on antique farm equipment. I plan on using something like GEORGIA and making relatively minor changes to some characters. I would then take the modified font and create “Wordart” in POWERPOINT for the needed countouring of the words. How do I create the blanks in the individual letters to simulate the stencilled look?

If you are using the Professional Edition of FontCreator, use the knife tool to cut the contours. Probably the easiest way is to drag a few guidelines to maintain consistency between letters. In node edit mode, you can use the shortcut keys “Q” and “W” to tab between selected nodes, then move them a precise distance with the cursor keys.

Rename the font using Tools, Autonaming.
Test the font with F5 to see if the cut is wide enough.
Save the TTF with a new name before installing it.
