Straight edges VS Rounded/Jagged Edges

Hi

I’ve been having this issue when I copy a character from Adobe Illustrator and paste it into an emply glyph in Font Creator. No matter how large I bring it in, the straight edges become rounded and sometimes jagged.

Any ideas why this would be happening or ways to prevent it from happening?

Thanks a bunch,

Mary

Can you please send an Adobe Illustrator file to me so I can look into it?

slight imperfections in shapes are interpreted as on or off contour points.

In the glyph editing window, switch from contour to point mode and make sure the beginning and ending points are on contour points.

Use the mouse to highlight all the other points on the line and press delete. That will convert it to a straight line - except for the jaggs produced by screen pixels.

The character images you send me are to small. As stated in both help file and user manual, an image dimension between 100x100 and 500x500 pixels is recommended.

Do let us know if this helps.

Save an enlarged file 100x100 - 500x500 pixels as a bmp file and use “Tools → Import” in Font Creator with the “Smooth Filter” set to “None” to import the character without rounded or jagged edges.
