I´m working with Font Creator 4 and I´m creating a new font.
But there are some strange things:
I wanted to save this font twice with different names.
Now I only see one font with one name. The other undetectable on the whole PC.
In Windows\Fonts I see both, but not in the FC.
In Word 2002 I see only one, but not the same as in FC and an old version !
Now I have created the fond in the second name and this does no more exist in FC!?
What does that mean that to save in Windows direct could confuse the system?
How can I save it else?
I´m saving the fonts as Windows files. “Saving as”, and then the name and then good bye.
If I want to have two files with the same contents I call up the same and do so as before.
The mysterious is the following:
At first I had created a file with the name “Sonderzeichen”. This is for the German page.
Then I called this file and saved it as “Neareasternsigns”.
Now I see both in Windows/ Fonts, but not in Word and in the Font Creator!?
In both cases I have saved the files before renaming.
If I would do as your answer means “…or you could install it.” I always get the message
that if I would save it in Windows the system could confuse. Apparently it is now!?

As I understand, you are saving your new fonts in the Windows Font Folder.
That folder should only hold installed fonts.
You need to open a new folder named something like “My Fonts.”
Save your fonts there, then delete them from the Windows Font Folder.
When you use Test Font in font creator, your font is temporarily LOADED into the installed folder with a randomly generated number. When you close the test window your font is UNLOADED.
When you are happy with your new font, THEN you will want to Install your font.
BUT there can’t be a font already there that will be seen as that font already in the folder.
If there is, Windows tries to cut it’s losses rather than lock up in never never land AKA the blue screen of death or BSOD.
As you say, your system is now confused.
