Well here it is hope I don’t bore you all too much.
Using High Logic’s Font Creator Program with Embird plug-ins Digitizing Studio and Font Engine
This takes longer for me to write it up than it does to do it. Just use a simple picture to start with though.
You can download a free trial program of Font Creator Program 4.1 here
http://www.high-logic.com
Open Font Creator program
You will get a box for a new type font put a name in it. You will need to name it.
Another screen will come up with the keyboard symbols ¦ Here I usually scroll down to the Capital A,
Double click on Capital A. another screen ¦a graph comes up.
Now go to tools, them import image. A screen will come up ¦look for the word LOAD and click. A box will come up to find you picture. Go get it.
There are two squares with your picture in it. If you don’t see the one on the right, Adjust the threshold slider until you get what you think you want. (You don’t want any holes in the design.
When finished hit generate.
Now it goes to the graph..you will see a red horizontal line and 2 black horizontal. I usually set the design on the red. If you want to enlarge it stay between the two black lines. But I have found I like enlarging most of them in ‘Font Engine’
There are two vertical dashed line and if you look at the top of them, there are sliders , so slide these lines to the edge of your picture.
OK now save this, name it and remember where it goes: (remember you can change where you put it if you want.
A word here we can go back and add pictures to this font and even delete this picture as long as we don’t install it. The way I am doing this it probably wouldn’t work for a font in a word processing program. But I don’t need it installed, as Font Engine will use it without it being installed.
OK now open Embird ¦Digitizing Studio ¦Then Font Engine.
The first thing in font engine is to scan for fonts.
Hit the folder icon on the right side ¦you will get 3 lines use one of them to scan for the folder your font is in. use the open folder icon. When you get your folder hit ok. It will take Font Engine a little time to scan.
But next time you add a new picture to your file in Font Creator. You can go back in here and not have to scan it will just be there.
OK in the insert screen, use the drop down arrow to find your font. Then double click on picture. (some of mine are so light I can hardly see them) Go to the properties screen. Under properties
Do your size.
Under characters place mark by plain fill and no outline.
At the bottom check the box fill exterior border.
Go to layout you can see your picture now. Hit ok and this well take you back to Digitizing Studio.
In Digitizing Studio, look at your objects window, at first they are all selected, click on it so they are not all selected. The first one is a box around the whole design, I usually delete this one. If your picture didn’t have a whole it will delete nicely and leave your design.
After that I go down and change the colors, When you select one at a time you can usually pick the color you want. The same colors probably won’t be together, so you need to move them together. While holding Ctrl select all of one color, then right click on them and drag them to where you want and they should go together. Keep all of one color together and group them. Do this with each color. You can also change the parameters if you want. When I get them the way I want I group all of them.
Then back to font engine ¦ go to properties leave plain fill, no outline selected. Uncheck fill exterior border, then layout and ok.
Here we go back to digitizing Studio, all the ones you just did are selected, You may want to change them all to one color. And may need to put them in order.
You are now ready to compile and save which will take you to Embird Editor. Ready to sew out.
I have had some fun using this. I have used pictures of my grandchildren and made silhouettes with this method and a lot of other pictures. Hope I get some feed back and maybe even some suggestions on what someone else has done. This really takes less time than it did for me to type this and maybe even for you to read it.
If any of my directions are not clear, let me know and I will try to correct it.
