Upgrade to 5.5

Thanks for a wonderful program. I purchased 5.0.0.237.80. The install program placed it in a folder named “Font Creator” and after some learning sessions there have been no problems. Today I tried to install the upgrade and the install created a folder named “FontCreator” with no space. The old registration code sequence will not work with the new version. I do not want to overwrite the files in the old folder manually without some guidance.

Please tell me what a proper upgrade process would be. Thanks in advance.

It is correct that the program installs into a different directory, it is a new program, not just a bug-fix release. Don’t try to copy files over the old installation.

Depending on when you purchased version 5.0 you may have to pay for an upgrade. This is what the newsletter says:

an upgrade from version 4 to the Professional Edition costs $59.00. People who received a free registration code (back in January 2005) for version 5.0 can no longer use that, and have to upgrade from version 4 as well.

Everybody who purchased a version 5.x license can use version 5.5 with the same registration code. No need to pay for another upgrade.

But, as a special service to customers of version 4, who bought a license in 2004, we send free registration codes for version 5.0 back in January 2005. So I assume you purchased a version 4 license and then got a free license for version 5.0. As stated in the newsletter, this registration code can’t be used with version 5.5. In order to use version 5.5, you need to upgrade from version 4 to 5 for $59 (this offer ends June 21, 2006). For more information see:

Hope this helps.

No my purchase of Font Creator 5 Professional Edition Single was dated 07/14/2005. So I think that qualifies me for a no cost upgrade - I hope.  What is the proper procedure? SeaMatt06

Ooooops. My mistake. Actually went through what I was supposed to do “cut and paste” old registration material into new program. Viola! It works. Sorry, you did your job I thought I had put the data ino the new program. Whatever. When I did it right, the program worked as it was designed to.

Thanks again.

I’m glad to see you’ve been able to activate the license.

Happy fonting!

I purchased my 5.0 in March. I just downloaded the new version, copied the old registration code from the welcome email, pasted it into the new registration box, and received a “registration failed” message. Any thoughts?

I’ve resend your registration code, so do let us know your results.

Thanks–it worked like a dream!
