Where are Patches Saved?

After applying a patch, FontCreator now updates correctly, but where can I find the executable if I want to reapply the patch later? It doesn’t take long to download it again, but its still good to have a copy in case I have no Internet connection if I need to reinstall the program.

Actually the download on the web site is the same as the one FontCreator downloads and installs.

 Does that answer my question?

I guess not. Next time I’m traveling I should not try to post a quick answer…I will give an answer when I’m back in the office.

The update is stored in your user temp folder. E.g.
C:\Users\BhikkhuPesala\AppData\Local\Temp

Thanks — close, but no cigar. On Windows XP I found it in:

C:\Documents and Settings\Bhikkhu Pesala\Local Settings\Temp\

I copied that latest installer downloaded on 21/5/2013 to C:\My Documents\Executables\ where I save my downloaded installers, and overwrote the older version. Now, if I need to reinstall it, I won’t need to patch it again.

The problem with the installation going into the wrong folder is also resolved. The installer is now finding my custom installation folder next to my other HL programs:

C:\Program Files\High-Logic\FontCreator 6.5
C:\Program Files\High-Logic\FontCreator 7.0
C:\Program Files\High-Logic\MainType
C:\Program Files\High-Logic\Scanahand 4.0

Well, Erwin did say “E.g.”! :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s C:\Documents and Settings{username}\Local Settings\Temp on XP, or C:\Users{username}\AppData\Local\Temp on Vista or later. In all cases, you can get there via the %Temp% environment variable.
