[Artificial intelligence is already writing code to create applications](https://x.com/MarioNawfal/status/1953361717200667129).

Creating fonts seems like it is a task ripe for taking over with AI. There is such a lot of coding involved to add OpenType Features. What if AI could do all the hard work? It could even check each glyph design to see if it is consistent with other glyphs in the font, and look for glyph pairs that are hard to read due to visual clashes.

This is impossible.
Because of artistic sense?
Type design isn’t just about drawing squares, circles, and numbers.
If you don’t have an artistic eye, you’re not a real designer.

I wasn’t talking about designing the initial glyph outlines, just checking them for consistency, e.g. making sure that the stem weights, x-heights, Caps-heights, serifs etc., match for all glyphs. The bulk of the work is in adjusting the bearings, adding OpenType features, etc.

Some of the hard work is already done by using algorithms for Optical Metrics, Kerning, etc.
