I suggest changing the Winascent, Windescent and vertical typo lines width values.
The existing lines are very fine and difficult to see and find to put the font.
They are only 1 screen pixel. What is the resolution of your monitor?
Have you tried changing the colour and style of the lines in Tools, Metrics Options?
I have no problem seeing the lines on my 1200x1600 NEC monitor. I am colourblind and my eyesight is not very sharp.
