The following works perfectly under windows XP

Try giving users access to the following registry keys (just right click the key in REGEDIT, select “permissions”, add the user(s) or group, and give them full control):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Type 1 Installer\Type 1 Fonts
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Fonts
So far, this has appeared to work for me!

So far in Windows 7 ultimate I granted everyone permission for the program folder itself and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Fonts
The key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Type 1 Installer\Type 1 Fonts no longer exists…
Still, in a limited account mere launching of Maintype requires Administrator login
What other permissions are necessary, please?

Problem solved by disabling UAC in control panel. Didn’t test the type 1 fonts but I can live without them.
I also granted permission to many fonts registries in regedit, not sure if it played a role BUT it’s working!!
