Windows: double click font name

Help! I reworked a font and deleted many unnecessary glyphs. Changed a few things in the format → naming blanks, and all looks ok. Saved the font as true type. However, when I double click on the new font name, nothing appears except the font name. There is no “The quick brown fox…” in different sizes, as should appear. I’ve searched the font with FontCreator and have been unable to find where my error lies, or what I need to change to produce correct the double click behavior.

What should I do?

Have you tried uninstalling the font, reinstalling it, and rebooting your PC?

If that doesn’t work, attach the font here for testing.

I think I found the answer: it has to do with the original font being open type. I originally had used FontCreator to do all the changes eventually saving as true type - this gave errors no matter what I tried with FC. Finally, I used another font program to open the otf file, deleted the unneeded glyphs, saved as otf. Then, using the same program, I saved as true type. All seems ok now. I don’t know what the problem was, but the work around seems to eliminate the problem.
