I have extensively modified a font and have it looking pretty much how I want it except the word space is virtually non existent. Help files are not helpful and I can’t find anything specific in this forum on word space. I am using font creator 5.0 on windows vista. Some of the discussions on metrics are pretty far over my head however. I used the program for a few years making dingbats but not fonts so I am essentially a newbie.
Any suggestions?
Thank You in advance
Lauren
It looks as if the width of the space character glyph is zero. Increase it to between about 1/4 of an em, which for most fonts (using 2048 funits/em) would be about 500 funits. The space character is normally the fourth glyph in the font — hexadecimal 0020 or decimal 32, just before exclamation, decimal 33.
Thank You. You know I figured it out just a few moments ago ( Slaps self on forehead) I thought it had to do with the left or right bearings then it hit me. It perhaps should be more obvious in the help file. I just didn’t pay any attention to the ‘non-glyph’ boxes.
Thanks again
